Okay, so that last bit isn't too commonplace yet, but one venue in Japan is trying to make it so. Hotel Epinard Nasu in the Tochigi Prefecture sits right next to a zoo with an adorable collection of alpacas.
Thanks to a rising trend in secular wedding ceremonies in Japan, Hotel Epinard Nasu has been working with the nearby zoo to allow these fuzzy alpacas to serve as witnesses.
Nothing says "wedded bliss" quite like this...

Unlike some animals, alpacas don't hold much significance in Japanese culture. They're just so darn cute!

 

If you choose to get on board with this wacky trend, an alpaca trainer will accompany the fuzzy critter down the aisle ahead of you and your soon-to-be spouse.

 

Precious as this alpaca may be, these wedding guests have been known to leave unexpected presents behind. After all, they're not exactly house-trained.

 

Still, imagine having this ball of cuteness at your wedding. Talk about going against the grain for your big day!

Though the origin of the first alpaca-witnessed wedding is unknown, it was likely done in response to a growing desire for less traditional weddings in Japan.
